The proposed amendments update fee amounts for justice courts. Arizona law authorizes the Supreme Court to increase certain fees concerning justice courts “in an amount not to exceed the percent change in the average consumer price index [(CPI)] . . . between that figure for the latest calendar year and the calendar year in which the last fee increase occurred.” A.R.S. § 22-281(F). There has been a 24% increase in the CPI since the most recent fee increase in 2018. This amendment proposes an approximate 12% increase in the fees, to become effective January 1, 2025.

Deadline for comments: October 21, 2024 by 4pm MST.

Attached is an amendment to the proposal to increase fees by approximately 12%. The slight changes to the proposed fee amounts bring them in line with mathematical rounding conventions to the nearest dollar. As mentioned with the original post, there has been a 24% increase in the CPI since the most recent fee increase in 2018.

Please note that fee waivers and deferrals will remain available where applicable.
