To further explain the regulatory objectives in Rule 33.1, the chair of the Committee on Alternative Business Structures and the Division proposes adding language to 7-209 explaining that the regulatory objectives must benefit persons or entities in Arizona and that all Alternative Business Structure will provide legal services to consumers.

Specifically, the proposed changes are as follows:

    • proposed to specify that licensure must advance regulatory objectives for individuals or entities located in Arizona.
    • proposed to ensure that the ABS is delivering legal services
    • proposed to incorporate the above sections into the list of items for the committee to consider in its recommendation.

The original version of the proposed changes included a word version changing consumers to clients, however, this was an administrative error.

The correct version is the PDF posted, which correctly reflects keeping "consumer". A corrected word version of the proposed changes have been attached to this reply.
